PAPERWHITE | Amazon Announces First Kindle With Wireless Charging
Amazon has announced the new generation of Kindle Paperwhite with two new models, a standard version and the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition version, the first reader of the brand to offer wireless charging.
Kindle Paperwhite features an adjustable warm light sensor and a 6.8-inch larger screen than previous models, with a 10.2mm narrow border. It also increases the autonomy up to ten weeks.
The screen of this digital reader, 300 dpi, is glare-free, offers laser-quality text and resembles real paper to facilitate reading in all conditions, even in direct sunlight, according to the company in a statement.
The display offers 10 percent more light at maximum brightness to ensure that reading is more comfortable for the eyes, and the adjustable warm light and white-on-black dark mode offer flexibility for reading at any time of the day.
For its part, the Paperwhite Signature Edition version also incorporates a front light that automatically adapts the brightness of the screen according to the lighting around you so that you can read comfortably in all conditions.
Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition is the first wireless charging Kindle device (compatible with any Qi charger). The standard model includes fast charging via USB-C, which takes 2.5 hours to reach a full charge (if an adapter of at least 9W is used).
The new Kindle Paperwhite is designed to withstand accidental drops and is waterproof (Ipx8), and includes 8 GB of storage, which increases to 32 GB in the Signature Edition version.
The new generation of Kindle Paperwhite debuts a redesigned interface, which includes new filters and options for computer content , a collection view and an interactive scroll bar. It also adds a new option to set up Kindle in fewer steps by pairing the reader with the phone with the Kindle app for iOS and Android.
It has also simplified access to settings, just by sliding your finger on the device. This allows you to adjust the brightness of the screen or activate airplane mode or dark mode without having to leave where the user is. These new software features will arrive before the end of the year.
A SUSTAINABLE DIGITAL READER
The new Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition carry the Climate Pledge Friendly badge. Both are made from 60 percent recycled plastics and 70 percent recycled molten magnesium.
Additionally, 96 percent of the packaging for these readers is made from wood fiber-based materials sourced from responsibly managed forests or recycled sources.
The new Kindle Paperwhite (October 27) costs 139.99 euros ($165) with 8 GB in black. The Paperwhite Signature Edition version (November 10) costs 189.99 euros ($224), with 32 GB of capacity, also in black.
